Papertrey Chicks Challenge week #0

Hey everybody,

I finally got my PTI goodies and found time to play with it. So I made a card for Papertrey Chicks week #0 Inspiration Challenge. Its all about Argyle. Here is the challenge for you.

I think I am late for the challenge but my goodies came just yesterday. Better late than never goes the saying so I did the challenge anyways. Here is my take.

This is a CASed card as I was mojo less.Life had taken over for past 2 days and I did not do any stamping. So my mojo decided to take a break. I wanted to do this challenge and therefore opted to case on of the DT card. This is Lisa johnson's card that I cased.Lisa's card is beautiful. I kept the layout and the argyle but changed the colors and sentiment. I generally do CASe when my mojo leaves me. CASing actually bring my mojo back. I am happy I did it. Thanks for the challenge. Can't wait for the next one.

Its 6.15pm on 30th April in Australia.
So I will say goodnight and have a great weekend!

April PTI Blog Hop

Morning everybody,

This is my 4th time participating in PTI's bloghop. Its been fun hopping from one blog to another to see what everybody have created using a specific theme. So many inspirational projects and its a great learning process. I am loving it. I just can't wait for 25th of every month to arrive. I think its the same with all of us at PTI.
This month's theme is:
This month let's focus on tissue paper!  It has become one of the hottest trends in the paper crafting
world and we want to see you take it on!  Whether it is die-cutting it to make beautiful layered blooms,
the faux silk technique, creating layered backgrounds or even delicate stitched pleated borders, we want
to see you get creative!  And don't forget, your new stamps arrive lovingly wrapped in tissue paper each
month, so these can prove to be "free & green" projects as well!  Have fun and we look forward to
seeing all of your projects!

Tissue paper! Wow! Something I don't use frequently use. This kept me thinking and thinking...you know! for a very long time. I did not come up with anything new this time but thinking certainly helped me with spending more time on the treadmill.lol! I was struggling to run on the treadmill for more than 15 minutes continously. I can fast walk for more than an hour but running was difficult. By just thinking what other possibilities I could do with tissue paper and running on the threadmill, I realised that I had run for 30 minutes. I felt really good. There are a few ideas using tissue paper which I will experiment over time but for today's bloghop I have made a card using FAUX SILK technique.

The three panels are made using faux silk technique. I have initially stamped PTI's Text Style stamp on the cardstock panels using second generation dark chocolate ink from PTI. I have used the tissue paper which wrapped my PTI stamp sets. I cut them slightly bigger than the panel size, I stamped each of them with a stamp from PTI's New Leaf set. Then crumbled them and sponged them on the Spring Moss ink pad over and over to get even subtle coverage. I then unopened the tissue paper and adhered them to the panel cardstocks. Finally sponged the edges. The birdie is from PTI's Daily Designs stamp set, stamped with SU's Real Red ink, cut out and adhered on the finished panel. Here are some closeups.

Other products used to make this card are: PTI's Delightful Dahlia stamp set, Spring Moss button, Bitty Box Basic DSP, Dark Chocolate and Kraft cardstock all from PTI and SU's Chocolate Chip taffeta ribbon and Real Red inkpad.
Here is another card I made using the faux silk technique. This card is made at the last minute and added to the post. Again one of the idea bulb that glowed while I was on the threadmill thinking about what to do with the tissue paper. Use the faux silk technique as a background and to add texture to the card.

I stamped PTIs background basic Hearts on the tissue paper for the faux silk background. The birdie on the bamboo is from SU's Asian Artistry  hostess set colored with Sweet Blush Copic trio from PTI.
Here is the close up of the card.

Can you see the wrinkles on the tissue paper? The wrinkled tissue paper gives a nice texture on the card.
Hope you like both the cards. Thanks for stopping by. I am now off to hop and see what everybody else have created.
Happy hopping!

FTL #87

Hi everybody,
Hope you are having a good weekend! Its a long weekend for us in Australia as Monday is ANZAC day. So many holidays in April for children. Nearly an entire month! We are having fun at home. Baked some cup cakes, bought heaps of secondhand books from the library book sale and generally relaxing. I managed to make few cards and one of them is for Clean and Simple Blog sketch FTL#87.
Here is the sketch for you.

And here is my take on the sketch.

I have layered kraft cardstock on kraft cardstock but inked the edges with SU's Whisper White craft ink.The layered flower is made of tissue paper which is stamped with PTI's background basics Hearts stamp using Tim Holtz's Fired Brick distress ink. Punched 6 scalloped circle, layered it and centered with a red button and SU's red rhinestone brad. Other than that there is no stamping on the card. The rest are all rubons from SU.

I like the red and white on kraft. Thanks for another awesome sketch.Your sketches always inspire me to do something different.Tomorrow, I am participating in the PTI's blog hop. So please drop by when time permits.
Continue to have a great week end!

Bonus sketch!

Morning everybody,

I know I promised another post yesterday but I did not find time to do it. I was busy with kids all evening. We had a chilly rainy day yesterday and kids could not go out and play after school. So I had occupy them with "interesting" things to do at home. We played scrabble, chatted about a variety of topics ranging from how my DD finds her class boys annoying to space to gravity to magnetic field around earth and what not! It was great.
Anyway, here is the card I made for the bonus sketch by Heather at 2 sketches 4 U blog.

I have used PTI's Dark Chocolate cardstock, SU's Whisper White cardstock, PTI's Big Bold Wishes and Tin Types stamp sets, In Bloom and Bitty Box Basics DSP from PTI, SU's Pink Pirouette and Chocolate Chip ink pads and SU's Chocolate Chip double sitctched ribbon and button from my stash.

Thanks for the bonus Sketch. Have a great day!

2 Sketches 4 U sketch #50

Today I have a card based one this week's 2 Sketches 4U sketch.
Well, first here is the sketch for you.

My take is interesting. Because I have used the color black for a wedding card! Here is the card for you.

This card is for my friend who is getting married soon. She loooves the color black and has choosen a black and cream vintage theme for her wedding. I was surprised! I don't think the color black will be used for weddings. But she is least bothered about it. Its her wedding day and SHE chooses the color theme. Everybody is OK with it too.I admire her courage to do it. I am glad atleast her wedding dress is not black. Thats the reason my wedding card here has black and cream on it. I like the card and hope she does it too.
I have used Kaisercraft's Dutchess collection black rubons, DCWV La Creme DSP, SU's Confetti cream cardstock, SU's So Saffron ribbon, Kaisercraft's black rhinestones and PTI's Delightful Dahila stamp set sentiment and black button.

Thanks for an another awesome sketch. Thanks for stopping by!

Long post, lots of photos

Morning everybody,
Today has been exciting for me. First, the school has restarted after 20 days of easter holidays. I was so ready to send the kids back to school. I wanted to have some silent time all for myself. Secondly, I was excited to go back to gym. I had missed going to gym for 2 weeks. Just could not find the time to go. Anyway, I did go to the gym today and feeling energetic now. Finally, we had an earthquake ths morning measuring 5.2. Was loud and rattled for sometime. We rushed out and thankfully no damages to the house or us. There has been damages to one school, some hotels and to the gym as well. The Superpit (open gold mine) was evacuated. There are several aftershocks but none serious. I was scared. This is my first experience of a strong earthquake. But at the same time I am excited to see what happens. Because we are asked to shut down electricity and gas until afternoon. Apparently more is expected.

Over the weekend we drove down to a seaside town called Esperance. We visited a animal farm nearby as kids could not swim on the beach. The water was freezing. Kids were dissappointed but the farm visit saved us. Well, we too love it. Here are some photos.

They are so adorable. That scottish calf was so cute inspite of its size.We were so happy to get an opportunity to feed them, touch them and play with them. Looove animals.
Enjoy the photos and see you soon!

JAI #13 for FTL #86

JAI #13 is a color challenge and FTL #86 is a sketch challenge. So I have used the colors from the color challenge to make a card using the sketch.I am very excited that I did that! Not that I don't do it often but I think, I was away for couple of days and did not know where to restart. Then when I combined these two challenge and made a card, I felt very excited. This shows how much I missed craft those two days. Gosh! I can't believe it! Anyway, Here is the color challenge from JAI #13

Here is the sketch from CAS blog
FTL #86

Thanks for a beautiful color combination and a fantastic sketch.

Compose a card challenge #9

Today's card share is my take on Becky's compose a card challenge #9. I have missed atleast 3 of her previous challenges. School holidays is keeping me busy with kids. Just could not find that time continously to sit and do craft work. This card I made it last night after the kids went to bed. But by next week they should be at school. Then I have the entire afternoon all to myself and I can do craft and do my eyebrows are well. lol!
Anyway, here is the recipe and the inspiration photo.

I love this challenge as I had recently done 3 similar cards using a sketch from Go To Sketches book. I loved that sketch so much. So this challenge too is one of my fav. Here is my take on the challenge.

I have used one of Cosmo Cricket old paper called Girl Tease. Such a pretty vintage girly collection. Butterflies from PTI's Butterfly Dreams stamp set.Sentiment is from PTI's Delightful Dahlia stamp set. Black button from PTI and red button from SU. Rhinestones from Kaisercraft.Kraft cardstock from PTI.
